Digital Business Bootcamp

Delivered by industry experts and funded by Government, Digital Business Bootcamps are hands-on group workshops where you can learn about how to grow and improve your business.

Why the contribution is important

Businesses have told us: "When I think about how I can use digital to help my business excel, I am overwhelmed by the amount of information and options available and I just want someone who can talk me through it in person."

Suggest you talk to Entrepreneurs' Programme about this idea.

I think the scale is too small :( How could we provide government services that have an economy wide impact?

A large part of this is about business capability more generally - not just the adoption of digital technology.

There are already registered training organisations (RTOs) that deliver relevant course units. Perhaps a scholarship-type program would be easier to implement?

As a software consultant the one thing I know is every business is different - even 2 businesses doing the same thing. They have different hardware, different skill sets and often different wants. These bootcamps would get bogged down on the smallest issues like type of printer, size of hard drive, RAM, etc. A suggestion would be do it by industry e.g. retail, legal, etc at least there would be some synergies.

Digital Bootcamps are a great idea however can be restrictive when asking Small Business Owners to leave their Business for an extended period of time.

There is certainly an argument that all Small Business Owners should 'make' the time however it is not that easy when you feel overwhelmed with running a Business and taking a day or 2 off to learn more just isn't on the radar.

I also believe that these Bootcamps will have a limited reach if only targeting more populated areas.

I still believe that the Digital Bootcamps are a good idea but it has to be accompanied with a Digital Delivery Model to encompass all Australian Businesses.

Whilst the idea is good, there are probably hundreds of courses that are already in market that you can tap into. I would suggest the government working with the RTOs in this space to package up the right courses and a rebate for SME's to have the appropriate employee's placed through the program.
